Luri, means of the Lurs, an ancient tribe based throughout Persia but primarily in the west and the Fars province in the south. The Bakhtiari also belong to the Lurs but their importance and separate identify generally means that they are written about separately. Their style is similar to other rural rugs in the vicinity, although the foundation tends to be of a dark wool with two wefts after each row of knots. Designs are often hooked medallions.
