The Bakhtiari tribe inhabits an area of west central Iran.In the early 1900's researches believe that about 100,000 of the tribe were still were nomadic. Some experts separate the pile rugs by structural differences. Those that are single wefted on a cotton foundation are regarded as made in a village, as in this rug. Those that are double-wefted on wool foundation are thought to be made by Bakhtiari who were nomadic.
This rug is very pretty with attractive blue abrash in the background.
