In the mid nineteenth century the firm of Ziegler and Co from Manchester began importing woven rugs from Persia to designs adapted to the western market.

Now Ziegler type designs are woven in many countries such as Pakistan, China and Egypt.

These rugs are much liked by Interior Designers.
