The town of Bijar is in north west Iran. The rugs woven in the surrounding villages are also called Bijar. Earlier Bijars were known for the stiffness as three wefts were used and packed tightly. One of these wefts was very heavy causing the stiffness.
This rug is a typical design with silk highlights and finely woven in an intricate design.
